Re: Help on Pullup Bar Construction

Thanks Matt. Hopefully this gives you a better idea. The attached pic shows the whole garage site. The driveway descends to the garage with retaining walls on each side, each of which have metal...

Help on Pullup Bar Construction

Hi All,

I'm trying to build some pullup bars outside my garage and am looking for a little inspiration and engineering knowledge. You can see from the pics there's a wall on either side of the...

Re: Concerned what effect the 2010 programming will have on future competitors :(

Right, I guess my main point is that the more GSP-type build is more beneficial from a CrossFit perspective. If you put GSP against Brock in a well balanced CF competition, GSP would win every time....

Re: Concerned what effect the 2010 programming will have on future competitors :(

In response to the OP, I don't think that's true. Look at some of the 'fittest' people in the range of sports that CrossFit is most similar to in terms of pathways:

Sprinting, olympic weightlifting,...

Re: Single Modality Events in CF Competition

For me, it was the opposite. Watching the Games in Aromas, I enjoyed the sandbag sprint, deadlift, and snatch events much more than the chipper, triplet, or sledge strike/row. That's just me. I...

Re: Single Modality Events in CF Competition

Your whole post is very good, but I'm pretty sure the powers that be would not agree with this. They'd invoke the 'unknown and unknowable' argument for general fitness, which leads to chippers and...

Re: Single Modality Events in CF Competition

So a big point from this is that the ability of someone to recover is becoming increasingly more important in elite CrossFit comps. Mikko is obviously freaky in terms of recovery based on his casual...

Re: Mikko Salo - Sisu

Seriously? If that's true that's about as impressive as Welbourn. I'm surprised that hasn't been going around the campfire more.

Re: Cleans / deadlifts

Hey Matt,

The angle of your back on the pull is going to have a lot to do with your body proportions. You may feel like you're doing a good morning, but it could be correct. Check your picture...

PETA Fail.

Just saw this and am so frustrated after reading the press release by PETA in the link.

Re: Venturing into a GloboGym for a laugh.

Yeah I might be the most spoiled globo gym user out there. I go to a climbing gym that's set up for CF with 4 concept 2's, about 10KBs, 10 oly bars with around 500kg in hi temp bumpers, foam...

Re: Why do people hate Crossfit?

My take is some people who even fully understand CrossFit just do not agree with a generalist approach to fitness. When you ask "how fit are you?" these people think the immediate response should be...

Pretty funny dude. I'll have to check some of his other stuff.

Did he have floppy, dirty blonde hair? If so, that's probably the Will that finished one spot away from making the games at the Nor Cal qualifier. Kid's a monster and will certainly be someone to...

Re: Arm Wrestiling and the games

Yeah neither Travis nor John had any problems winning that I saw. Very nice guys and they took the time with each person to explain technique and give them multiple tries at beating them.

Re: MIKKO & Finnish Bootcamp?

I'm confused on what you're defining as "successful". Successful for what? For CrossFit the sport? AFAIK, very few of the top competitors in the Games are training to be high level athletes in...

Re: MIKKO & Finnish Bootcamp?

The way I look at this is analogizing with Herschel Walker making the Olympic Bobsled team. The question isn't, "what type of bobsled training did herschel walker do to make him so good?" rather the...

Re: MIKKO & Finnish Bootcamp?

Um, yeah. I'd say their results at the Games has a lot more to do with this (what they've been doing for the last ten years) than a bootcamp they've been in for the past year.

People will probably...

Re: Games Scoring

It was pretty wild. Mikko got that last rep about halfway up and I remember thinking just after the event that had he lifted it, he would have 16 fewer points and wondering if that would cost him...
