Re: Body's ability to use sugar after avoiding it

Re: Avatar anyone seen it?

Re: What food do you force yourself to eat?

I like cooking, I like eating, I'll be happy to help some of y'all out with your extra blocks....

I don't like the texture of cucumbers or watermelon. I eat those in small-to-moderate amounts.

I...

Re: newbie shock??? need some insight please!

How strong is she? If the answer is "not very," how about having her just do the warmup, not for time, for a couple of weeks?

Re: Huge Decline in Quality

Sounds like the guy prioritizes his gym over a larger community, in that he'd rather disassociate himself from non-excellence than work to raise the bar of excellence within the larger group...

Re: Jerky question

+1. Easy. Slice the meat, marinate it, string it up in my light box, pull it out in a couple days and stash it in the freezer.

Eye of round works great; London broil does pretty well too. Both of...

Re: Paleo Recipe Thread!

I know that eating foods as close to raw as you can is often better for you, but roasted chard that makes you happy = eating more roasted chard than roasted chard that is better for you but does not...

Re: barefoot running - settle an argument

Re: Recipes That Will Last?

the crock pot is your friend.

If it's the meat you lack, see about scheduling a Sunday with your mom to cook up a month's worth of meat in various ways, then divide it into one-meal portions, label,...

Not that Emily isn't 100% right, but I'll offer my experience as well:

Several years ago I had a MAJOR sweet tooth. Cookies after every meal, mandatory. Two spoons of sugar in my coffee, etc....

Re: September: 'Turkish Get-up' challange

Having to catch up days is nice if only because once you've done more...

I took my first batch of jerky out of the box yesterday (box/lightbulb method) and it's delicious.

But it needs some refinements.

Yep, still out here. No way I'm quitting after I've made it this far through.

I do have two days to catch up on, though - the 17th and the 26th.

Re: Gloves are for gardening t-shirts now Available!!!

I think the Jesus shirt is funny and potentially offensive to some, which is interesting that I personally think Jesus is a pretty cool cat and still get a kick out of the shirt.

I think the whole...

Re: Paleo Recipe Thread!

FYI:

Cabbage is damn good sauteed in some kind of yummy fat and then with pistachios or slivered almonds (toasted is even better) sprinkled on top right at the end.

If you have a while for cooking...

Re: Hunting Season Is Around The Corner

I'd just like to go on record as saying that I'd be happy to take any unwanted prey. Nobody in my immediate circle hunts, and I *miss* venison, etc.

Re: Why aren't I losing weight?

Well, that 1300 cal/day is what I would eat if I were trying to lose weight, and I'm smaller than you. Eat more for one. Try just eating 500 cal under maintenance cals for your size/activity...
