Re: sleep apnea?

Again CPAP=No sleep for me. Sleep>no sleep.

Re: ACSM, NSCA, ACE, USREPS: Your Aspiring Fitness Overlords

If exercise was the needed component for PTSD in NSW, there would be no PTSD in NSW.

Re: ACSM, NSCA, ACE, USREPS: Your Aspiring Fitness Overlords

All that being said, and I work in the field and worked for a long time in SpecWar, SEALs PTing PTSD away is ridiculous. It's not like these guys are coming off the couch. Their trainers are...

Re: ACSM, NSCA, ACE, USREPS: Your Aspiring Fitness Overlords

All this may be so but the attempt to PT away PTSD is misguided. Congress did well to derail that plan.

HPCs are a nice idea, and should be approved, but every NSW gym I've seen was a well...

Re: rehab and crossfit?

There are anecdotal reports on the internet about it. There waas a guy who trained Navy Counsleors (Navy Counselor Schools uses a parallel process. It's like being in treatment) who was a CF...

Re: My latest article - PML for Optimized Recovery

Chris or Brendan,

Do you see a value in multiple high rep sets, perhaps even lowering the weights but increasing the volume?

I ask this because I'm not "taxed" off of one set. And because I see...

Re: My latest article - PML for Optimized Recovery

Chris,

I read the article and started with a cable based machine bench with about 40 lbs. Initially I misunderstood and was doing 3 sets of around 20. I reread the article and switched to one set...

Re: My latest article - PML for Optimized Recovery

Post implementation questions:

If I am rehabbing an elbow injury, should I do this through different planes? Bench Incline dip overhead etc?

It should hurt intensely after the end of the set?

Thanks Chris, I'm going to give it a serious try. At this point nothing else has worked so....

Re: My latest article - PML for Optimized Recovery

Chris,

I'm nursing bilaterally shot elbows right now. I attempted to bench earlier this week in an effort to begin to rehab them and they were reinjured. Do you think this method would help? It's...

Re: Two a day question

If you're recovering from an injury and "no spring chicken" I would wonder why you need to do 2 a days. Overtraing/underrecovering sucks and it's a hard hole to climb out of.

Re: Push Ups

Pushups are surprisingly different from BP. I would just do pushups. There are numerous varieties and they respond really well to volume.

If you insist on benching and more pushups is your goal...

Re: CrossFit for mental health

That's a cool story. There's a FB site called integrated recovery, he's using CF to help with addictions.

I am a crossfitter (sort of) and a counselor, I'm a big believer in the effects of...

Re: competition debate

I'm in favor of him getting to decide where he wants to compete. You're talking about a CrossFit competition, not something that actually matters. At the end of the day why do you care what he does?

Re: How often do you end up in the zone, that dark zone

No. Workouts are pretty irrelevant for mental toughness. That is, they will show if you have it, not help you get it.

Everybody thinks they're going there, few actually are. Puking and passing...

Re: Crossfit for PFT improvement

Keep your focus specific to your goals. There are a lot of combinations of runs, pull-ups, and situps you can use for WODs. CF will help most likely, but it's smart to work extensively on the...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

I could outfit a decent box out of what's available at the exchange these days. Anything I couldn't get I could get from Dicks. I bought lifting shoes at the exchange a couple months ago. Most...
