Re: Suggestions on gaining weight?

If you really care abut progressing in kickboxing do not take the above advice. Ian is right that doing a straight mass-gaining program is the fastest route but if you look at kickboxing as a sport...

Re: Is there something wrong with me?

Doing Crossfit does not make you a lone wolf amongst sheep, there are plenty of people in the armed forces who are wolves without doing Crossfit. Dropping that attitude will be productive in the...

Re: when first starting out did your....?

Kettlebell curls with leverage, wrist rollers and grip work have really helped condition my wrists for power shots - having strong fore-arms is a big benefit.

Re: Stuck in a pickle!

Dude with your running ability you don't lose endurance by cutting out CF conditioning - just add some really heavy lifts to your routine and focus on slowly increasing the weight.

Re: Power snatch critique

A couple points

- Your hips are very high for a snatch, try dropping them down a bit and letting the bar start over your mid foot rather than right next to your shin.
- You are starting the 2nd...

Re: A comment here from "Marys" video on Main Site

This is written very strangely - is the implication that you don't do Crossfit if you only do the workout of the day when it fits your programming? Where does that leave the concept that Crossfit is...

Re: The AJCN strikes again

The raw vegan thing works for you, great. I don't buy the idea that it's "the answer" though - every nutritionist, trainer or coach who has "the answer" has been wrong so far. The basic idea that...

Re: Want to gain muscle weight

If your goal is to gain weight, talk to trainers at your gym about focusing on strength work and cutting back on the conditioning workouts.

Yes! Go after your goal - in this case, your goal is...

When I was training at crossfit santa cruz Rob Miller ate those things pretty often from the Starbucks down the street.

Re: MMA Crossfit workouts

:30 intervals with battling ropes are my new least favorite thing in the world. Perfect conditioning for striking and upper body strength-endurance. Kettlebells, power cleans, snatches and jerks,...

Re: back squat 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2

When you're starting dynamic work you might want to go with 60% in the beginning, at least until you're used to it - it's supposed to be really fast.

Re: Black Belt Jiu Jitsu Practitioners

Garth Taylor, a Claudio Franca disciple and US Open champ used to train with CF at the original crossfit Santa Cruz, but he doesn't use it any more. He's a physical beast (origin of the "700lb...

Re: CF as a strength and conditioning program?

Alex, didn't he use the same data (posts on the mainsite) that Crossfitters usually point at when asked for hard data points?

Re: Could someone please explain why Zone or Paleo is better for performance?

Short answer is that for many Crossfitters performance = body comp, even if they don't care to admit it. Zone / Paleo is pretty good for leaning people out and maintaining low levels of BF%, so it's...

Re: Why is CrossFit so effective?

It works to the extent that you take advantage of the novice gains from a bunch of different types of training. Novice gains are awesome but they usually get exhausted after a couple months, by...

Re: 6 foot, 172 pounds... gain weight before Xfit?

Eric, just wanted to add that you don't need to worry about your 1RM if you're going to do a linear progression, lift and eat right and you'll be squatting 350+ much sooner than you think.

Re: How do Fighters Decide Their Fighting Weights?

I'm the process of this decision for boxing (though I don't need to dial things in just yet). I think everyone has made good points, but I'd like to add one thing - speed. Speed is obviously key...

Re: stupid question, but who's more fit?

Dude, I didn't mean it in a mean way, my point was simply that you shouldn't be worrying about how you stack up against other people right now because both of you have a huge amount of progress ahead...

Re: 6 foot, 172 pounds... gain weight before Xfit?

OP, you're what's called "skinny fat." Even though you don't weigh much, you don't have enough muscle to show definition either. Getting strong, eating a lot and gaining muscle will improve your...

Re: stupid question, but who's more fit?

@ Justin - According to Greg Glassman the Person B is more fit, since as long as your work capacity is high you're healthy even if you have terminal cancer. If you ask me, I'd rather be Person A. I...

Re: Powerlifting and Gymnastics Training

Jacob, decide whether you want to continue pursuing powerlifting. If you do, gymnastics isn't a great choice purely because you'll want to lose both fat and muscle. You're pretty heavy for 5'6" and...

Re: Should I eat more?

If you want to gain mass, stay far away from the Zone. Like, it should be the last thing on your mind. Eat a lot of horse.

Re: Diet critique - Body comp stalled?

At 5'9" 171 here's what i think's happening - your body finds equilibrium at around 10-12% BF, and you don't have enough muscle to look the way you want. Probably at 10% with #5-10 pounds more...
