Re: Overhead strength issue.

Lift heavy weight overhead for a lot of reps.

What is your current bodyweight and what is your current max military press?

Re: Starting Strength, without squat racks

Front squat is good, and seemingly 'safer' than the back squat. Especially if you don't have quality instruction.

Find a different gym. There has to be another one around that has a squat rack. In...

Re: Soldier needing direction

Might want to think holistically. Perhaps see a holistic doctor (not sure if VA would cover this). Steve Ilg took a nasty fall when climbing and did most of his recovery with yoga.

Re: Sore elbows from rock climbing.

Yah...

How often do you CF, how often are you climbing, what are you doing for recovery. Are you taking fish oil or a vegetarian equivalent? Are you foam rolling?

How much sleep do you get? What...

Re: The Next Anderson Silva?

The problem with a lot of the asian martial arts for MMA (beyond the idea that their styles incorporate methods that work best in a no-rules situation), was that they didn't have good take down...

Re: Diego Sanchez vs BJ Penn

UFC 105 I've heard.

He deserves the shot. I think BJ wins.

Re: Rumored Michael Bisping vs. Wanderlei Silva UFC 105

I'm hoping that Jon "Bones" Jones, ends up working up to fight Silva. The guy is really impressive.

Re: carwin vs lesnar at 106

Well other than Lesnar's media antics, its hard to cheer for the guy. He comes from professional wrestling (prior to that an elite college wrestler, but the pro wrestling is what sticks for most) and...

Re: Hammer toes and subs

Agreed. And if you can't do that right now, for whatever reason, then to the best of your ability, try to strengthen your feet toes. Basically, use your feet like hands and pick things up with them....

Re: Carano vs Cyborg

Good luck Gina. Should be a good fight. Might even go all 5 rounds.

Re: Help!! What happened to my knee?

Go to a doctor. Why are you asking people to make medical analyses of you without seeing you and without being qualified to do so?

The gains are temporary (upon returning to lower elevation).

Re: Crossfit & Alpine Climbing

There are lots of rumors about what works. I don't buy into any of it. I've seen people get altitude sickness taking various things. The best method is still time. If you are planning on going out...

Re: When to do CF Endurance

There's nothing wrong with the concept of CFE. It largely borrows from what certain groups have been doing for a long time. However, it is still contrary to what became the modern training method of...

Re: Running Technique

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1m2odnNGO0I (WFS)

His sprinting technique isn't far off from what one might do on the 100m. A major difference I've seen is that in gymnastics they don't want to lean...

Re: Games Scoring

I hope they keep this format, but adjust the scoring system. It has an obvious problem (that first day performance was far more important), and I'd be surprised if HQ didn't recognize it, so I'm...

Re: What the CF games really teach us

I do think that we might see more of a 'Tour', similar to other competitions where there isn't a lot of sponsorship money, such as 5k/10k racing, CAT 5/4 racing. You earn points based on your...

Re: What the CF games really teach us

Nope.

If you go back to the 10 fitness items, and put them in a bar chart, and then put the items in the bar chart, you'll find that any selection of events biases some of those items over another....

Re: What the CF games really teach us

Not contradictory. Khalipa was the winner last year, and did well on all events except for the long run. Thus, he wasn't the best for the collection of events. Had the events been a repeat of last...

T-Nation has good info depending on who is writing. If Dan John is writing you should listen.

Re: All CF Games Events Are Up....

Josh doesn't do distance. But he did well enough on it. Seems that maybe the sandbag sprint killed him? That's somewhat surprising to me.
