Re: Lower Back Pain

^ What he said. I'm no doctor but I did have the exact same symptoms; and suffice to say it required professional medical intervention.

Diagnosed with facet joint arthritis in L5/S1 vertebrae

So yeah. I wasn't unaware of it, but I WAS unaware that was causing most of what I was dealing with, which was

- hard time lying on back/stomach in bed due to pain
- soreness when I sit for a long...

Feeling VERY good today; it's exactly the 17 week point.

Warmup: 2 rds of 100m row as fast as possible, and 10 jumping air squats
Mobility
Strength: 6x3 squat clean, front squat (e.g., 1 squat...

Re: Permanent 10% Military Discount from Again Faster

Or mail.mil in many cases.

(What about those who are veterans but no longer have an ID card - can we send a copy of our DD-214?)

Re: How did your "Murph" go?

It went...nowhere. LOL (They did Murph @ our box, and it was a great turnout, but as I'm recovering from a right arm distal biceps tendon tear, I had to sit it out.)

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

Well, I'm an IT guy 'in real life' (when not CrossFitting) and I try to learn as much as I possibly can about things I'm interested in. NOT peeling the distal biceps tendon away from the radius in...

Re: Yet another AC joint inflammation thread

Not sure who all has posted, but I've had no less than 3 surgeries for the AC joint inflammation.

2007 - subacromial decompression on my left shoulder - due to some bone spurs and the like, I had a...

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

For those who might be happening into this thread, I thought I'd share some things I've thought about/discovered over the last few months of recovery:

- Basically, darn near EVERYONE I know who has...

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

Yeah, the same thing happened to me, except a bit worse because I've had a shoulder surgery on that shoulder. (Hey - good excuse to get my wife to massage that shoulder, heh heh.)

It got better...

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

Hey Daniel - apologies for just now getting around to answering your message. :) (At least you injured yours in a 'studlier' way than I did. LOL)

The doctor told me that I didn't *have* to get it...

Re: Crossfit after a Microdiscectomy??

I had a microdiscectomy in 2005.

My max squat is 325, max deadlift is 405, and max bench is like 245.

So suffice to say, yeah, you can get back at it as long as it's not TERRIBLE, and you give it...

Re: Broke my body

Go see an ortho - seriously. I wouldn't even THINK about doing any physical therapy until I know exactly what the hell is wrong with my body.

Matt's Workout Log

I've got a much older workout log, but am replacing it for a very good reason, aside from the fact that it's > a year old.

Back on 28 January of this year, I was lifting a boxspring in a fairly...

Re: SO Frustrated

This. If you're putting in work, regardless of how 'well' you do it, that's all that's important. The rest will come in time.

Re: SO Frustrated

There's been a heck of a lot of positive encouragement in this thread; you're choosing to focus on what you perceive as the negative. And I gotta agree with Mark - the 'negative' is really only...

Re: SO Frustrated

This. A thousand times this. As my trainer likes to say, "I require two things from you - showing up, and the desire to keep going. That's IT."

CrossFit boxes are the *ONLY* facility where I...

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

Update (for those who care, or might have had this occur):

Surgery was 12 Feb 2014; it's now about 5 weeks (give or take) post surgery.

This has been an interesting one to recover from. I'm no...

Re: Bruised larynx?

Been there, done that. LOL I know how it feels.

In my case taking a few throat lozenges and some hot tea for a day or two took care of it for me. If it lasts longer than that go see your doc, I'd...

I've had it (more or less) before, and am dealing with nerve pain/damage now due to a distal biceps tendon surgery. The fix for both is as outlined above - rest, ice, stretching, and complete...

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

Good to know. I'm about a week and 2 days out. I experienced a reaction to the Percocet on day 5 post-surgery, and told the doc I wanted off of it, and out of the cast. They said 'Well, it's...

Re: Distal biceps tendon rupture - recovery?

Well, went to the doctor last Tuesday, and he said "I remember from talking with you about your previous surgery that you're pretty intelligent and very observative. Unfortunately, that hasn't...
