Re: 2016 Games Banter...starting off with Murph

I just blocked off everything from noon onwards (being on the east coast, I still have the morning to get actual work done). My gym has a teen competing so I'll be obsessively watching. I'll tell the...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

My gym is having some fun with this. The first two weeks they've done head-to-head throwdowns Thursday night directly after the elites do it on the announcement; this week we're having our top Teen...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

By the way I never did get a response. I don't think this kind of thing would cause the kind of controversy the smaller plates did in 16.1 though ;)

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Well, the range of motion is the same, presuming every rep starts from the floor. The workout gives 3 points/requirements where the standards must be met - 1) the rep starts with the bar on the floor...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I think that would be permitted, as long as it touches the ground between each rep. These are the standards:

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

New in the rulebook (https://assets.crossfit.com/pdfs/games/2016-CFG-Rulebook.pdf) this year (WFS) is a "Sportsmanship" appendix. I have to imagine it was mostly written after all the 15.1/15.1a...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

This sounds like the worst workout in the entire world and I hate it already. It will probably take me an hour. Which means it's sure to happen. Let me just find my puke bucket...

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

I'm curious to see if they're going to let them break up the middle section any way they want or have a defined scheme the athletes have to follow. Considering how regimented they've been with the...

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

They've always said in the past when you must use one barbell and change your own weights. I am pretty sure you can use two.

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Looks like he must have redone it and got one more rep. You caught it in between him withdrawing his old score and validation of his new one. He's back at 414 reps.

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Scaling C2B down to chin-over-bar is not really that much easier. The people that needed to scale TTB down to knee raises probably can't do pull ups, either. Disappointed it's not jumping pull ups....

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Agreed, which is why I spent 9 minutes trying my hardest to get TTB and had a *legitimate* score of 1. With a C&J of 135# after. But I was thrilled because getting up into the Rx division for the...

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

If you are submitting a video to be judged online then only registered judges that passed the course are allowed to mark it as good/needs review/invalid. If you are not doing the workout at an...

Re: Off season: What are you going to do to be better in 2015

My Crossfit resolution for 2015 is that I'm going to learn to love squatting (back, front, overhead, wall balls - anything that goes below parallel). Due to mobility issues it's been my weakest area...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

My guess is it's actually going to be 2 events, which is why it's scheduled for so long.

She withdrew a couple weeks ago due to a back injury that's been bothering her since before regionals. http://instagram.com/p/qP7ZzNny3F/ (WFS)

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

On the Games Workouts page, there's not a ton of information yet but it says "Athletes will each have 3 attempts." http://games.crossfit.com/workouts/games (WFS)

Re: Getting stats off the leaderboard

Which do you think is better to use, the number from the leaderboard that only shows people who have done ALL workouts, or the larger number from the app which includes the number that did ANY...

Re: 14.5???

I believe the rulebook says that if you don't post a score on a workout, any subsequent workouts will NOT count towards the team, but previous workouts will. So if you missed. 14.4, your 14.1, 14.2,...

Re: 14.5 tips and strategies

This typo made me laugh. I don't think I will having any trouble "acing" the "barf" after all those burpees!

Re: 14.4 Tips and strategies

Friday I did the workout and got my first 6 TTB ever. Redid it today and got 26. Once I knew what it actually felt like when my toes hit the bar, they definitely came easier. I'm happy with my score!...

Re: 14.4 Tips and strategies

Oh, Dave definitely said Concept2 during the live announcement; my point was more that we can't trust that what he says at the live announcement is ever the final word :p Always read the Workout...

Re: 14.4 Tips and strategies

The workout standards simply say that "An indoor rower with a monitor that measures calories" is required. So not necessarily a Concept2. I'm not sure you can ever really trust what Castro says...

Re: 14.4 letdown!!!

I think this is why they posted the graphic earlier today that showed how 98% of athletes did 14.3 at an affiliate and only 2% at home via video judging. Affiliates "should" have rowers and so they...
