Re: Sound like Iron Man (Downey Jr) is doing CF-type workouts

How on earth is that anything like Crossfit?

Re: "Born to Run" Unintentionally Praises Crossfit

Except that's not an accurate statement. Strength training benefits from regular practice and repetition of movement.

So does aerobic capacity.

Humans may want to do different things everyday, and...

Re: "Born to Run" Unintentionally Praises Crossfit

I guess the point the point as I see it is that MovNat is a philosophy that holds an expensive seminar when a quick dose of google fu would likely provide the necessary information. Conditioning...

Re: Another Deadlift critique

You're right Arden. The bar is several inches away. It's actually incredible our OP is closing in on a 500 lb pull with all that's going on.

I'm nearly certain if these things get fixed 500 would...

Re: High bar back squat - 3 rep 235# - form check

Wow. Looks like the heel is rather low. I thought you had on shoes for skateboarding or something.

VS are fine for weightlifting.

I think you need to bring the weight down 20-30 lbs or more. ...

Re: The 100 burpee/day challange

I think that it's Dan Gable who said if something is important, do it everyday.

During the season, Crossfitting and doing a bunch of extra workouts isn't important.

What's important is healing your...

Re: High bar back squat - 3 rep 235# - form check

Sorry, I got ahead of myself on the last post and didn't actually address the form in the video.

Descent is a little quick, but that's alright. I wouldn't necessarily slow it down.

Depth is...

Re: High bar back squat - 3 rep 235# - form check

A couple of things:
- You're not going to get the same p-chain recruitment on a high bar back squat, as others said. It's a more quad dominant movement, though you do want to maintain tension in the...

Re: "Born to Run" Unintentionally Praises Crossfit

Wait a second, I just noticed something. You're adamant against doing something that costs a lot of money, yet you are a Crossfitter?

Are you working out in a commercial gym or at an affiliate? Or...

Re: Another Deadlift critique

First, you are an incredibly strong dude. And your form is off in a couple of very big ways. I'm guessing if you fix the flaws you have a few more pounds you can add to the bar. 500 may be in...

Re: The 100 burpee/day challange

Regardless of the Marlins jumping on the Crossfit train, it's not necessarily a great thing for baseball players. Especially in-season, when your goal should be on actually playing your...

Re: "Born to Run" Unintentionally Praises Crossfit

How could it be anymore complicated than ring handstand push ups, or any number of Chipper workouts containing 5 + exercises?

Re: Other Forums

I think stronglifts is a waste of time. Pmenu is a good one, assuming we can still say that.

There are a couple others they won't let me post here.

Re: "Born to Run" Unintentionally Praises Crossfit

Movnat and that Monkey Bar gym that's in Wisconsin made more sense to me during the bolded words than crossfit.

Not that it doesn't fit with what CF tries to be, but I think those two places are...

Re: Eating for strength gains?

The answer is simply "more". If you are afraid of putting on fat with only 10 lbs added to a ~145 lb frame then I don't know what to tell you.

Lift, eat, sleep. Repeat the cycle.

Re: Nutrition Certs

After something like 13 books there's going to be new cutting edge information on 40-30-30?

Possible, but I'd be surprised. Not a slam, plenty of people have done well "Zoning". I just fail to see...

You were looking forward to paying for a cert. of something you can get from his book for a fraction of the cost? The appeal for many when Robb was still doing the seminars was that he had a...

Re: Increasing fat blocks on zone

I'd suggest reading a few of the interviews Greg Everett did at Performance Menu. Zone is not recommended for Oly lifters. In general not enough protein, more carbs than you need etc.

Read up on...

Re: An Angry Diet For Angry People

Slight correction. If our noble thread starter wasn't getting enough protein before, then muscle gain is quite possible. It's rare, but there are some who actually gain a little muscle on the...

Re: Steroids, Supplementation and CrossFit

Well, to be honest, the masses aren't going to be fire breathers with optimal body comp because of dedication, not supplementation. It takes a lot of heart to track diet on a regular basis, sleep...

Re: Squats vs. Deads

Frank,
There's not a real set ratio, but the DL is nearly always going to be greater than the squat assuming your lifting without any powerlifting gear like a squat suit.

Pro PL'ers will squat 1000...
