Re: Starting Strength Gym Comments

im doing about 1/2 onwith 2%. Im trjying to keep the fat gain to an absolute minimum. Other than that just a boatload of eggs, oatmeal, chicken, protein, trail mix, fruits and veggies.

I noticed post workout I usually weight an extra 2 lbs. Im sure this is from the "pump." Which weigh in shoudl i consider my weight, post or pre workout?

Re: Starting Strength Gym Comments

The extra weight isn't from the pump. Your body can't just create weight out of thin air. The pump is just the blood flowing in the muscles. It's in your body regardless.

Anyways, I think most people weigh themselves first thing in the morning after waking up and taking a dump. Generally, this is more of a "true" weight - as in, you haven't been eating and drinking all day so the weight from that won't be there. Of course you can never be 100% accurate, though, since of course there will always be something in your system.

There seems to be a conservation of matter issue at hand here . . . The fluid that fills your muscles just comes from some other part of your body, so it can't increase your body mass. Maybe that's not exactly what you meant.

Theories to explain weight gain: Drinking water during workout. A big post workout shake. Weighing yourself in different places.

Anyhoo. I always weighed myself in the morning after going to the bathroom just for consistency. As long as you are consistent it shouldn't matter.

Re: Starting Strength Gym Comments

Day to Day fluctuations in weight can be caused by so many factors. Weigh yourself once a week or less.

If you are really serious about the weight gain from SS (which you seem to be), don't worry about the small increase you'll get in body fat. You clearly have the ability to shed it when you are done with SS and back to CFing. You don't want to short change your strength and size gains because of vanity. Start drinking that whole milk, and if you can, find and drink raw milk.

Keep up the great work!
