CrossFit Milford was asked to host the sectional's for the CrossFit Games!!! I am so stoked to have been given this opportunity and this event is going to be massive!!! There will be 6 states coming down to CFM to compete for a chance to make it to the regionals. We are going to be putting on a festival and we will be looking for volunteers. There will be a lot more information on this event in the next month.

Re: Crossfit Games

Most of the regionals last year were smaller than 6 states--CA had two of its own. Granted, the northeast includes a bunch of smaller states, but how big are they planning on making the regionals if just one sectional can cover 6 states? The rumors I'm hearing so far about SoCal are that we'll need one sectional just to cover SD and its surrounding areas...I'm guessing LA and the Bay Area will be similar situations. Are there that few affiliates in the northeast?

I agree, I was hoping for something more like one sectional per major metropolitan area. Philly, NYC, Baltimore/DC around me perhaps.

Eric, you need to consider that CF in general is way bigger/more popular on the west coast than it is on the east coast. (we're catching up to you, though!)

The northeast is very compact. There are no affiliates in vermont. There are only a couple in NH, and one of those doesn't have a real home base. The northeast regionals last year included new england, ny and nj. Adding those two states...probably double the amt of athletes.

I think the sectional that CFMilford is hosting (assuming it's the new england sectional) is an anomaly. I think large cities in CA will get sectionals, and most others will be state sectionals, with some rearranging in the midwest

Re: Crossfit Games

Any idea who is running the sectionals for us southerners down here in Florida? I'm sure the regional will be held in the same location in JAX.

Re: Crossfit Games

For those waiting in breathless anticipation, the following appeared on the Local's Gym website (Lynnwood, WA; http://www.localsgym.com/ ; mostly safe, with occasional language):

2/27-28th/10 Washington Sectional Qualifiers
for the CrossFit Games!!
Details TBA

Note that the site posts events being held at other affiliates, too, so this defines the sectional date, but not necessarily the location.

Watch this space...

Katherine
