Strength training program with CrossFit

I've started CrossFit about 3 weeks ago and I wish to incorporate a strength program alongside the WODS. Can anyone one recommend an effective strength program that is suited for linear gains and not programs for those that are reaching plateaus and are seeking further strength gains such as Westside etc.

Re: Strength training program with CrossFit

GSLP or 5/3/1 can be combined with CF-style training pretty well. Or just follow CFFB's amateur offseason program.

www.CrossFitFootball.com wfs

Strength WOD is right side of the page.

Daily WOD is in the center.

Posted right on the main page of cffb. Follow the amateur strength workout on the right and follow it with the amateur wod on the left.

Re: Strength training program with CrossFit

all good advice. I haven't tried the CFFB yet, but use 5/3/1 and it's a great program. Slow gains, but steady gains.

Re: Strength training program with CrossFit

I'm using the CFFB for a few weeks and adding plates to my lifts steadily.

Best regards,
Bryan

Have you read Wendlers 5 3 1 2nd edition book? Are you finding it difficult to incorperate 5/3/1 with your Wods?

2nd edition covers all that sort of stuff. No problem at all to blend 5/3/1 with CF if you're smart about how you program your CF workouts...i.e. you don't want to simply follow what's posted on CF.com or an affiliate page.

Yes, I read Wendler's book on 5/3/1. Right now I am doing 5/3/1 twice a week (Press & DL on one day, Squats and Bench on another). I run once a week, and do 1-2 WODs per week. It's working out pretty good, but I feel I push myself harder with Crossfit workouts for some reason.

I really just trying to hit a few main goals with 5/3/1 and build strength before jumping totally into Crossfit. I read Starting Strength too which REALLY taught me about proper form in the main lifts.
