My first WOD was today and it was a hero WOD.

I'm currently 35 years old, 395 pounds and I did the 101 classes last week. Today was my first official WOD and it happend to be a hero.

The coaches were able to scale it down for me but it was still brutal. I think my instincts were correct in that i'm not going to look at what they are the night before, i'd rather just go in and face the pain lol.

Just have to say... lol.
My first WOD was "McGhee." AMRAP in 30 mins: 275lb deadlift (I scaled to 225) 5 reps, 9 boxjumps, 13 pullups... if I remember it right. I spent an awful lot of my alloted 30 mins with my hands on my knees, sucking wind. Good times!

Yes, it WAS pushups, typo. The workout looked so easy on paper, I was pulling around 400 at the time, and could knock out about fiddy pushups in a set. I hadn't done much box jumping, but how hard could it be, right? I found out that my muscular endurance was just a tad... nonexistant.

Re: My first WOD was today and it was a hero WOD.

I have not done HERO yet. I just finished my elements classes. I had a semi-WOD today at 530AM. Kicked my butt but it only took me 30 minutes of rest when I got home to get moving again. It get's better. I know everyone says that, but it does. GREAT WORK! I feel your pain pushing nearly 300 lbs. myself.

Nicely done and welcome to the forums. By any chance this wasn't at CrossFit Benning was it?

Re: My first WOD was today and it was a hero WOD.

Just for a second, maybe before you begin, think of those HERO'S. What they did for us to allow us to Crossfit. Gave the ultimate price. Yes, the Hero's WOD's are tough, but compaired to what they did, are they really? My son was one of those. Not a named WOD. But he still motivates me spiritually to kick my own ***.
