Crossfit Totals

385 Squat
165 Overhead
405 Deadlift

955 Total

I actually consider myself a stronger squatter than deadlifter, so I was a bit surprised how things ended up. I haven't squatted heavy in about two years, so it's understandable that I had trouble finding my groove. It still felt pretty good, and I'm confident it'll be in the mid 400's soon.

The overhead also felt pretty good. When I do these, getting to the halfway point is easy, and after the halfway point it is easy. The only sticking point in this lift for me is the transition right when the bar is at the top of my head. After that, it's gravy.

Deadlift felt very good. All my warmups felt solid and perfectly in the groove. In weeks past, I've felt too loose and was disappointed in my weakness. Today though I kept thinking about one of the songs on the Conan soundtrack that takes me back. 405 flew up, and I felt I could have handled around 430. Maybe next time...I was happy with that for now.

As much as I hate running distance, I'd better go pound out some miles. Then it's chow time!

I used my imaginary friend's jump rope for this. He didn't mind, though I suspect I'd have stepped on it a few times if it was real. I'm terrible at it.

I did the two above workouts back to back. I took about 10 minutes to rehydrate as well. I did them at around 4pm...and all I had to eat prior to it was a bowl of oatmeal for a breakfast and a piece of pizza for lunch. Now it is time to find something filling.

Ten rounds for time of:
12 Burpees
12 Pull-ups

29:50

I had a pretty physical week at work, so this was my first WOD since it started.

"Griff"

For time:
Run 800 meters
Run 400 meters backwards
Run 800 meters
Run 400 meters backwards

12:48

I did my 800m in 3:19 each. If my 400m backwards runs were the same time, then I did them in 3:05 each. Running backwards was a lot more difficult than I'd have previously thought.

Re: Bill's CF Log-o-Fun

Last week for work I had a pt, which resulted in:

bench 302 lbs
1.5 mile run 9:54
60 situps in one minute

I was surprised at my bench, considering I haven't benched in over three months. I've just been doing the crossfit wod's and soem pushups when I feel the urge. I was out of town also working on the floods here in the midwest, so I missed a few workouts. I made up one from a few days ago, which was a real butt-kicker.

135 pound Deadlift, 15 reps
135 pound Hang power clean, 12 reps
135 pound Front Squat, 9 reps
135 pound Push Jerk, 6 reps

5 sets were prescribed, but after 4 I was utterly spent. I'll take the sally award for it, and work on being tougher for next time.

Re: Bill's CF Log-o-Fun

"Angie"

100 pullups
100 pushups
100 sit-ups
100 squats

37:18 My times make me look like a couch potato on these. I guess I should stop comparing myself. I just run out of muscular endurance, yet focus on each rep being strict. So I strain for awhile and lay in my own pool of sweat, spiting the guys doing curls while they look at themselves in the mirror.

I wasn't quite as good as my previous best either. Anyway, time for food, shower, then off to work.
