Alright...what'd I do wrong?

Suddenly this morning my User CP access is mostly disabled, and a forum reply that I made had to first go through a mod. I can't imagine, but what'd I do wrong?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Alright...what'd I do wrong?

Ok. Well, at least now my posts aren't having to go through a mod first, but my signature and avatar have both been killed.

Can a mod please let me know what's happening on this?

Thanks,

Mark

i think you should pm a mod personally, mark. I checked your older posts and didn't see anything that would ruffle any feathers...but what do i know?

you'll probably get further with a PM to camille. good luck!

Renee -

I'd do that, but (as I've just noticed) my PMing seems to have been hidden/disabled as well. I have no idea why.

Mark- what was your avatar, and what did your signature say?

Re: Alright...what'd I do wrong?

The avatar was just a cartoon of one of the two "two crossfitters" guys. The sig just said "Join your local CF affiliate - where the company loves misery." Pretty tame stuff.

I bet it was your avatar. The character had a t-shirt that said f*** (it was starred out, but still).

Re: Alright...what'd I do wrong?

Well, you may have missed these incidents but those videos/cartoons were posted by multiple members and board trolls. Everytime they were posted, they wound up in Pukie's Bucket as some felt they were offensive in their view of CrossFit, as well as where they appeared to have originated from. Regardless, people posted them again and again, and again.

Believe it or not, the moderators on here are constantly on the lookout for things that are posted here strictly from people who hate CrossFit and come here to stir up trouble and prod our members. A lot of the time, members don't see things that crop up before they are dealt with. The past few weeks have been especially bad. Every so often, we have a flare up and have to get into a defensive mode. This may lead to us interpreting things as intentionally spiteful or provocative, when they may have been posted in good fun. If you saw all the behind the scenes stuff we deal with, you might view things more from our angle, whether it's right, wrong or indifferent.

Maybe your avatar and signature appeared offensive and attacking of CrossFit, bearing all this in mind?

Well, if that's the case, then I guess I owe an apology, although it's not unusual to see the starred-out usage here.

Camille - I'd like to use an avatar and sig. Promise I'll make both completely tame, in case either was previously taboo. I'm a totally low overhead user here.

- Mark

I guess the av could have been seen that way, although really all I was doing was mocking myself, as I'm anything but elite.

The sig ("Where the company loves misery") is only meant to mean that CF owners love putting their customers through misery via the WODs. I even shared that with one of the owners at my box last night, and he loved it. I have no doubt that the mods get put through all sorts of nasty stuff here, but (especially considering my tame history here) I think it's a bit of a stretch to interpret my sig as having been a direct shot at CF or CFHQ in any way.
