Re: "Fran" times. Whats your best

Lots of Fran talk. You guys need to stop talking and start doing. $2000 cash prize should make things fun.

Scared?

Question that came up at my gym the other day. Does it matter if you are lowering the weight as you lower your body? Or do you have to lower it to the rack before you move your legs?

I believe you can lower it as you lower your body, thats one of the reasons I have posted my video here in order to ensure my technique is correct and comparable to others so I would be keen on a confirmation on this too.

Absolutely you can lower the weight with your body, its a thruster.
Just pass below parallel at the bottom, and ear visible from the side at the top.

ah ok great! So the most efficient motion is to lower the bar and start squatting at that exact moment it seems.

Re: "Fran" times. Whats your best

Depth looks iffy. I'm thinking your quad is not hitting horizontal but perhaps your hamstring is. You're definitely not pushing it overhead so you'd get dinged for every rep.

The question is whether it's a lack of flexibility or slop.

It's faster than myself. My best was 5m+ ish and it's been awhile. Now, it's more like 7 probably if the pullups don't screw up my elbow.

My general goal was to hit all the sets straight through and after that just work on speed and minimizing in between time between pullups and thrusters. Making sure I could pop the hip in the thruster rather than just doing a front squat to press out.

My old goals when training for Fran was to be able to do 45 thrusters or pullups straight. I never did try doing one and then hitting the other though but I did get past 30 for either.

Classy response, good luck on the challenge. My guess is you'll achieve it.

My best is 5:07.

Re: "Fran" times. Whats your best

Everyone loves a little FRAN! Tough test, but a great one to really see where you stand in the CrossFit world. Got my best with 2:33, video below. Upon further review, there may have been a close pull up or two near the end there (what do you guys think?). I know I'll be hitting this again in January some time, perhaps going chest to bar is the REAL test!
