OK - who knows how to open this? Just to see if it worked I clicked on my document in the post above and all I got was jibberish. Did I somehow put it on there wrong or am I trying to open it improperly? In case it matters I created the document in Microsoft Office Word 2007.

It's jibberish in word 2003 for me. Sorry Eugene. Did you save it in 2007 format? You might want to downlevel it a bit and try again. Save as word 2000,maybe?

Yes Laura I did save it in 2007 format...which means I just saved it as I didn't know I could save it to any other. Problem is I couldn't even open it back up in my computer so I don't think it's just the 2007 thing. One thing I've noticed though is that the file is zipped, is that our problem.

Lynne...can you help us out here? Did I save it incorrectly, load it up wrong somehow, or do we just need to do something when we try to open it?

I would like to put this on my blog as a Word document so that anyone that wants it can go access it there. Anybody know how to do that? If that doesn't work, is there a place I can go stick the document so other's can find it?

Well, I have NO idea what a "docx" file is. Having said that, Discus has no idea what *most* files are, so it cleverly decides all file extensions are ".unk" - brilliant. So, right-click, save-as, and rename to .doc for best chance of success. This works for just about everything that people upload to this board, from Word to Excel to videos...

But not this. Word has no idea what to do with it.

Eug, if you open the original doc on your computer and do file/save-as, you should be able to pick a previous version of Word to save it as, like Office 03, Word '97, .rtf, etc. Lowest common denominator is good.

.docx are the new Windows Vista files. If you have Vista, all you have to do to save a file as a .doc file is to hit "save as Microsoft Word 2003/2005" or something like that. None of the conversion programs work, so that is your best bet.

Eugene, today when I downloaded to work, my XP Professional recognized it as a zipped doc. Let me see what I can do with it.

The zip file contains .xml files. Are you trying to save a web page as a word document? If so please attach a link of what you are trying to save.

I found the document.xml has Eugene's content. I think what he's saying is, this is the only version of the document he saved. :-) Working on retrieving the content. The formatting may be lost forever, Eug.

Try this one. I saved it as Word 97-2003. That ought to do it.
