Fat Irish Baby

I've posted a little bit on the boards, and done a lot of reading. I really like the idea of a progress log to help with motivation. So here we go.

TO be honest, I don't really know my exact stats. I've had some eating issues in the past, and I know that if I knew my numbers right now, I'd be really depressed!! So I'm 5'6" and I'm pretty sure I"m @ about 215, with a 40" waist, a size 18. YIKES!!! JUst typing that makes me embarrassed.

I've tried other workout programs, and I always gave up and gave in after a short period of time. Xfit is different, I can tell. I started xfit about 3weeks ago. One hour sessions just practicing and learning the moves and lifts. I start workouts tomorrow.

I think I should add a bit of a personal note to this log. I am an alcholic/addict, and I've been clean for 20 months. Quitting substances and replacing them with food has greatly contributed to my weight gain, (about 50 lbs in 2 yrs). Getting sober took a lot of willpower and persistence, and I'm hoping that will transfer to my fitness pursuits. I've really pulled my life together in this last 20 months, and my next focus is my body and being healthy

Okay, so maybe this is TMI, but I want to track my progress and journey.

To the future!!

Hi Caitlin - glad you've started a log and congrats on 20 months sobriety! That's awesome. I know where you're coming from and I find exercise a huge help. I figure that's a better option than food for me but some days it's a close call!

Am so glad you've discovered CF - I'm sure you'll love it! I look forward to following your progress.

First Workout!!

So today I did my first workout!! It was pretty brutal. Our gym does the xfit totals on Saturdays, so my coach found another one for today. I scaled it down a bit, and it still took me an hour, but I did it! Here's what I did:

400m row
15 OH
400m row
50 jump rope
15 Push press
400 m row
15 burpees
1/3 mile

It feels good just to write that down!! I have one of the best coaches ever, and he strikes a great balance between kicking my *** and encouraging me. I'm sore, and tired, but I feel awesome!!

I just ordered some vibram 5fingers. I know that at this point I don't need them, but they just look so ****ing cool, and it's an investment in my health, right?

Caitlin-

Good on you being sober 20 months!

You're right- your not alone! I found myself in a very pudgy state and decided to turn things around in December. That was 60 pounds ago and counting. Just keep plugging along the results come fast and furious- you'll soon be doing things you never thought possible. It's an awesome feeling. Keep up the good work.

Re: Fat Irish Baby

Caitlin,
CONGRATS on not only the training, but turning everything around!!! I have a very dear friend who had to walk that out and while painful, it was a beautiful thing to watch her become a new woman.

So, by having been a small part in her life and being privileged to walk some of it with her, I know you're a new man... again, CONGRATULATIONS!
