Re: What Do (Or Would) You Drive?

Have '88 GMC 4x4 pickup and an '87 FJ60 Landcruiser - last of the manual transmissions before they turned into puffy soccer mom rides.
Used to have a BJ40 (diesel short jeep looking landcruiser only made for Canada defected to me in the US) alas ******** got in the divorce and ran into the ground. I miss it.

Currently mostly drive diesel '05 Jeep Liberty because it can tow a bunch. Diesel prices bite the big one. Have plans to make biodiesel.

Most wanted car, '66 chevelle two door - manual. Hopefully they never even made automatics but I don't know, anyway I don't want one. Was going to buy one with NOS (not that I wanted that part of it) but a tree fell on it. Boy children were psyched about that. They both turned their noses up at the landcruiser, so it sits unloved, silly boys. I still love it but it needs some axle work. Too many rides for one little woman to drive.

Foolish boys. Land Cruisers are pretty burly.

Would Drive: 08 Nissan GTR. Its almost scarey how fast this car is. I felt uncomfortable as a passenger.
I've only driven one car with a flappy-paddle gearbox (Maserati Quattroporte which belonged to a buddy of mine), and it was alright... shifted a bit roughly compared to a conventional manual, and was a bit annoying when trying to park.

I am hugely, hugely jealous that you even have ridden in the 911 Turbo-killer. It would have been on my list, but fell between "possibly attainable" at the Exige and "wildly dreaming" at the One-77.

There's no such thing as scary speed, only scary braking.

I guess I should say thrilling, exhillirating, and bordering on childlike joy and fear all wrapped together...with a bow...and twin turbos.

I've never seen asphalt go by so fast. The whole "launch mode" anticipation is like liftoff sequence for astronauts.

Jill,
If the boys don't like the '60, show them what you can make out of one. Here is one of my buddy's 60s.
40 in the foreground, 60 in the back.
safe link to a pic of a FJ60

I share a 40 with my brother(mostly his, by far).

I drive a 2001 F250 Crew Cab diesel. Daily driver is a 2001 BMW F650 GS.

Candy apple red 57 Chevy would be my dream car. I would really love to have my 2001 Jeep Wrangler back again.

Re: What Do (Or Would) You Drive?

I currently drive 3 vehicles
01 Toyota Tacoma
88 Mustang GT Convertible
67 Volkswagen Bug, his name is Whitey

IMO the most sexy car is "Eleanor" off of the movie Gone in Sixty Seconds. If I had 200K I would have one.

Mmm... Launch Control.

The fastest thing I've ever been in was a 2006 Mustang Cobra which had been bored, and supercharged, and modded up to about 700 hp. Of course, it cornered like an obese cow, but it did 0-60 handily.

The Jeep Wrangler is amazing.

Not because it's the most brilliant piece of engineering; it isn't. It's great off-road, but it's high maintenance, often uncomfortable, not terribly safe, and hasn't really changed in forty years (though some would describe that as a plus).

Yet, it is one of the sexiest, coolest rides there is, and has been for nearly its whole production run. I'd love to have a Wrangler, and still plan to (when I can afford a second car... I mean, after I buy my Exige).

No offense meant to any Wrangler enthusiasts. I think it's the Alfa Romeo of the 4by world. Which is a compliment

04 volvo s40 t5
218 hp in a 5 cylinder! the thing stops on a dime... its incredible really. It just has the turning radius of a farm tractor,
and that sucks rocks in a sports car.
think I am going to trade it in for a bmw 335 d .... performance and desiel... oh may am I going to have fun fun fun....

Re: What Do (Or Would) You Drive?

I drive a 03 Jeep Wrangler lifted with 33's, and I love it. My only complaint about my jeep is that my two mastiffs dont really fit in the back with the seats out.

My next ride will most likely be a Jeep Unlimited for the four doors. Wife wants kids and our dogs... It will be a couple of years though before I get rid of my current jeep.
