need some advice
Hello Crossfiters,
Im alittle new to crossfit, but I've been doing the workouts for around a month. I love Crossfit and I would say i'm addicted to it. But i'm in need of some trainning advice. I'm a Cpl in the Marine Corps overseas in Japan. Im training to become a swim instructer which in return I swim 2000 meters in the morning 5 days a week to prepare myself. To me that is a workout on its own. I do crossfit on my lunch time which is an hour. My diet is whatever they have at the chowhall which is usally a well balanced meal (but not always well tasting). I basically eat as much as possible whenevr I can due to my metabalism being on crack!!!!! I dont due the junk food, fast food, sodas, ect. thing. I consider myself a pretty healthy guy. Now my questions are: Will I be overtraining? Will I be allowing my body enough time to rebuild? Any advice on a certain diet? Any advice would help, thanks. |

Re: need some advice
Only you will know if you are overtraining - headaches? Crankiness? Muscles aren't recovering properly? Is performance getting worse?
Check out http://www.crossfitendurance.com WFS If you are on Okinawa, check out Crossfit Tori Beach. Paleo/Zone diet - lots of information on the nutrition board. and good luck on becoming a swim instructor! |

Re: need some advice
Hi Morgan. I am also new to crossfit so you may not hold my answer in high regard. But I think it would be helpful to know:
1) How well to you sleep and how long on average? 2) Do you take multi-vitamins? If not, do you get a lot of fruits and veggies? 3) How many days of the week do you do crossfit? Do you do the unscaled WODs? This might help others who know more answer your question. My two-cents: Sounds like your training an awful lot. Listen to your body: if your not making gains, scale your training down a little until you do. While you are still improving you are not overtraining. Elias |

Re: need some advice
Hey Morgan
I do 2 a days 5-6 times/week without overtraining. Usually a crossfit WOD and an endurance workout. If your diet is solid, and you listen to your body for the signs, you should be good. Every 4-5 weeks I throw in a low volume / low intensity week to help recover, and I always return stronger. Just pay attention to yourself. Alot of people train twice/day. Good Luck Chris |
