August: 'tabata everything' challange

this challenge consist of performing a different exercise of your choice 3 times a week utilizing tabata: 20 seconds on/ 10 seconds off for 8 rounds. once you have used an exercise once during this challenge you are not allowed to use it again in the challenge.

(example) the first weeks programing might look like: Monday: tabata pull ups 8/8/7/5/4/4/5/6, Wednesday: tabata KB swings 10/10/8/6/6/5/6/5, Friday: tabata burpees 12/8/8/7/7/6/7/6


post your totals here daily

i would have a hard time timing the intervals but i may try to do as much as i can

Excellent challenge! Count me in, though I cannot promise if I'll be able to follow through - - depends on the outcome of job hunting and work hours.....

glad to see you guys are on board for this challenge. it probably won't be as popular as the 'thruster' challenge, but few things in the xfit world are more popular then thrusters & 'fran'.

tabata is such a great approach to overall fitness that it makes for a great challenge. and the nice thing about this challenge is that you get to pick the movements & exercises so its easier to program into your wods.

remember to keep the weight light enough that you will not finish every round of 20 seconds early due to muscle fatigue. also remember to subscribe to this thread so you don't forget about the challenge.

correct. but you have to pick a different exercise for each day of the challenge. so you can never double up on any particular move.

Me too. I wrote it on my bathroom mirror with dry erase marker as a reminder.

Tomorrow will start squats for me.

Ted, what do you think about repeating the exercises at some point in the month to see if we could beat our reps?

you are more then welcome to shape the challenge as you please. i personally like the challenge of performing as many different exercises as possible tabata style. kind of in the crossfit spirit of random adaptation.

i do like the idea of tracking progress with a 'baseline' or 'landmark' wod. so maybe performing 'tabata something else' sometime in the first week and then performing it again the week after the challenge concludes?
