Cody's Gettin' Strong and Fit

Figured I should start a log to help keep myself accountable and to track my progress electronically as well as in my notebook. My goals are to increase strength to a respectable level, goal is a 1000lb powerlifting total, and to increase my fitness level...hasn't been great for several years!

For the last month I've been doing the Starting Strength program and have been progressing quite well. This week I've taken a little break from the heavy weights for a bit of a recovery/conditioning week. I'm planning on getting back to Starting Strength on Monday and continuing to progress for a bit longer.

Stats:
200lb/M/6'

Starting lifts 3.15.2010(Started a little low on some, but I was in no hurry)
Squat: 3x5 @135
Dead: 3x5 @135
Powerclean: 5x3 @115
Press: 3x5 @95
Bench: 3x5 @135

Current lifts:
Squat 3x5 @235
Dead 3x5 @225
Powerclean 3x3 @165
Press: 3x5 @120
Bench: 3x5 @165

Monday's workout 4.19.2010

Squat 10 sets of 2 @165, 60sec rest

3 Rounds of:
135lb Deadlift, 12 reps
135lb Hang Clean, 9 reps
135lb Push Jerk, 6 reps
My Time: 16:02

Today was a scaled version of "DT" I had seen this pop up on as the mainsite WOD a couple weeks back and it sparked my interest. I decided I should scale back to 135, and part way through the workout I knew I'd also have to scale to 3 rounds. My grip was completely gone by the end. Time was 16:02

Tuesday's workout, 4.20.2010

Bench 8 sets of 3 @125, 60 sec rest

20:00 AMRAP of:
15 pushups
1 mile bike
5 pullups
Results: 3 full rounds, 15 pushups

Enjoyed today's workout, my mile splits progressively got slower and I was definitely getting tired. This was probably the first time I've actually got kipping pullups to work. I was so excited after the workout that I had to do a few more just cuz I finally figured them out! Can't do consecutive ones yet, but I'm sure that will come.

Gave Fran a shot today...and I hate her

It was a lot of..fun..I guess? This was my first time trying it...heck I've not really tried many Crossfit workouts at all yet.

Time was 15:44

I guess it's a starting point. Will be looking forward to improving over time. Tomorrow I'm taking a rest day and a CFT on Friday then back to SS for a month or so on Monday.

Hey, thanks for the post on my log. I know the cake and reese's are not good, just a weakness of mine that i'm having a hard time kicking. Anyway, thanks for at least showing the interest.

Figured I'd post some goals to come back to. I've not done many CrossFit workouts yet so I'm not sure exactly what to shoot for, but I'll add new goals as I go. These are all somewhat shorter term goals, 2-3 months.

300lb squat - most recent 1rm was 255, last SS workout was 235 3x5
750lb CFT based on calculated maxes from SS workouts I'd be at 669; I'd like to hit 700 tomorrow.
10:00 Fran; yesterday was 15:44
Rx'd "DT"; did this on monday w/ 135 and only 3 rounds
8:00 mile; I suck at running, be lucky to run 10:00 if i went out right now
Jump on 30" box

I'll leave it at that for now.
