Rubberized weight plates?

I'm looking at changing my garage home-gym into something I can do crossfit in. I now have your basic "Standard" Olympic iron weights. These obviously won't work for snatches, overhead squats, or anything where I may drop the weights onto the garage floor. Where can I find the rubberized weight plates--is there any particular brand to look for? Anything I should be aware of/look out for?

Re: Rubberized weight plates?

first off... "rubberized weight plates" are very different than bumper plates.

Bumper plates are made of solid rubber with a metal hub. Rubberized plates are metal with a relatively thin coating of rubber for noise dampening. If you drop rubberized plates, prepare to see some damage.

So... for BUMPER PLATES... I'd personally go with Wright bumpers as they're what I have and for the price they can't be beat. www.wrightexercise.com (WFS) contact Jason Hughes there and let him know what you're looking for and he'll take care of you.

Thanks, Jeremy! I didn't even know the proper name for them. Yep, that's exactly what I'm looking for--thanks for the link.

Re: Rubberized weight plates?

I recently purchased a set of Troy bumpers from barbellking. Far and away the best deal I've come across and, for all intents and purposes, seem pretty comparable to the big name brands equipment I've seen at my box. (I'm sure there might be a slight difference in quality/longevity, but since they're only getting used by one person, the savings seemed worth it.)

BTW...I tried to by the Troys locally and no one could come close to the prices on barbellking, even with shipping. I'm honestly not sure how he does it...must move a lot of product.
