The same thing you would eat? meat/eggs & veggies, some fruit & nuts.

Re: Paleo diet and kids?

Eggs, fruit, sweet peas, bacon, chicken, beef, squash, carrot sticks, almond butter, avacados. Just real food. It's funny how wigged out the day care people get when my kids bring in steak and spinach for lunch. lol. That's all they have ever been fed, so I don't have to play a lot of games to get them to eat it.

I bake sourdough bread from scratch every week or so, and give them a little. That's paleo right? ;-) I think homemade, organic rye, sourdough isn't the worst thing for a kid's (parent's) treat now and then.

I also give my kids more fruit than I eat. They are on volume/level 15 most of the day and can use a few extra nutrient dense carbs IMO.

Re: Paleo diet and kids?

I have two boys, 7 and 9. My wife and I have been gradually moving our boys to as close to paleo as possible. Best day breakfast looks like: eggs, sweat potatoes, chicken, and fruit. However, some days we go with gluten free, steal cut oats or some gluten free toast with some homemade strawberry spread along side of their eggs and potatoes. I know not strict paleo, but I've seen them do well with small amounts of starches because of their high activity levels being multi-sport athletes including water polo, baseball, basketball, football, and crossfit kids.

Good on you. I'm curious if the boys love it / hate it / indifferent?

Re: Paleo diet and kids?

Well, unless our kids are cooking dinner (and usually they aren't) they eat paleo since that is what we cook. On spaghetti nights they get pasta and we do squash, or maybe they get rice when we don't, but other than that, about the same.

They love it -- the smell of grilling steak sort of takes care of that problem. The Everyday Paleo cookbook is AWESOME and worth getting.

We don't put any pressure on them for the rest of the day, and some days they are eating eggs and bacon/sausage with us, some not. Up to them. But they are naturally moving in that direction.

Just cook really great food and they'll eat it.
