Muscle Up Help
Hi,
I have been working on my Muscle ups and gymnastics, but can only get to 4-5 muscleups using a false grip, but cant get anywhere near using a neutral grip. Does anyone have any help they can give? Video of a 3 rep and fail about 6 weeks ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUis_GbipEY |

Watch this vid. It's one of the best that I've seen. I'm still working on getting my ring MUs; can do about 5 on straight bar..... It's about 8 minutes long but he gives good advice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUKHj...5C0D73CBEC(WFS) Michael |

Re: Muscle Up Help
The no false grip Mus is a big swing high up. You are not coming all the way down to full extension on any of your reps, not even on the first one.
You need a bigger kip and better timing. it is more a timed exercize the a strenght one. kind of like kipping pullups. you get the timing wrong you are all over the place. I'd work on coming to full extension first, that alone should make a bigger swing. Also none of those MUs would count in a compition because of the lack of full extension at the bottom. No bent elbos, that actually is a scaled version. WFS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKcnpJSAsbo Look at how big her swing is at the bottom and the full extension too. I really do'nt like them personally, I can do them, but it kind of robbes the movement to me. |

Re: Muscle Up Help
How many can you do without a kip? You probably need to work on those, getting stronger overall.

I also agree on working on the full extension, this should help with your kip too because right now you are losing a lot of your kip to maintain the bend in your arms. If I did it right, I attached a picture of someone with their chest forward and arms fully extended. |
