Front of shins get fatigued in the low squat position

Hey all,

I assume that the fatigue and soreness in the front of my shins at the bottom of the squat position (a la KStar's 10 min squat hw assignment) is due to tightness somewhere and I am currently working hard on mobility.

Could someone tell me what is tight and how do I stretch it?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Front of shins get fatigued in the low squat position

I think it's one or both of, ankle mobility and low back mobility. The bottom line is, you're not getting your weight back onto the heels. It sounds like maybe you're trying to "pull your toes up" to stay in balance, instead of being able to sit more comfortably in the bottom. I think the best route is just to REALLY work on a perfect air squat, and additionally use a PVC pipe to do some shoulder dislocates and loosening up of your front rack position. Realize that your mobility goes from your shoulders all the way into the lower back, it's all tied together.

Re: Front of shins get fatigued in the low squat position

Calf stretch, foam roll, distraction band work around the lower extremities is then the solution right?

Are there any other things to help with elongating tissues down there besides making sure to also stay properly hydrated?

Thanks again!
